0:00Customers in ConsignTrak are the distributors, OEMs, and end users your orders ship to. In this video, we'll tour a customer record — including contacts and drop-ship locations — and set up a new customer from scratch.
0:15Choose Customers from the menu. Each customer has an account number and a name — and the search box up top finds them by either one, or by any nickname you've saved along the way.
0:27Let's open Riverside Mill Supply.
0:31The customer record keeps the essentials together: contact information, the shipping address, and any alternate names — old account codes, abbreviations, however people actually refer to them. Aliases are searchable, so an order taken under an old name still lands on the right account.
0:49Below that, contacts. Each person gets a role — sales, accounting, shipping — so when ConsignTrak needs to notify someone about an order, it already knows who to write to.
1:02And drop-ship locations: extra addresses a customer ships to besides their main one — a job site, a branch, a plant. Save them once, and they're one click away on every future order.
1:15Now a new customer. Back on the list, click New customer. Account number, name, and the address — that's all it takes. We'll add Piedmont Machine Works out of Columbus.
1:26Create the customer, and the record is live — ready to take its first order, with room to grow contacts and ship-to locations as the relationship does.
1:36One more thing worth knowing: if a brand-new customer calls in an order, you don't have to come here first — the order form can create the customer inline, mid-order. Customers, contacts, and ship-tos: all one page per account.
